Reviewed: Drybar Bay Breeze Hydrating Shot

As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a ton of new products every day (we know-tough life).В ReviewedВ is a series where we report on some of the best products we've tried. Whether it's a drugstore lipstick that lasted all day or a hand cream that saved us this winter, you'll find all of our favorites in this column. Enjoy!В

I have to admit I'm a sucker for eye-catching product packaging and gimmicky names. So as soon as I saw Drybar's Bay Breeze Hydrating Shots ($38), I was hooked. The idea of a conditioning “shot” for my hair that smelled just as good as a cocktail? Count me in. Especially if it could combat the “hair hangover” I tend to get after all of the heat damage I put my hair through day in and day out (hair of the dog, right?).

At first-as I was perusing the new arrivalsВ on Sephora's website-I saw that you could buy an individual shot for $10, but after walking through the pearly gates of beauty heaven, I was a little disappointed that I had to invest in a full four-pack (champagne problems, I know). In any event, I could barely containВ my excitement to get home, jump in the shower, and (hopefully) emerge with newly revived locks.

The four-pack came with four bottles but only one spray pump, so you just need to make sure you keep the pump intact so it can transfer from bottle to bottle. The instructions told me to spray the entire bottle into my hair section by section, massage in well, and let it sit for three to five minutes.

Whenever I use a deep conditioner, I always apply it before I shave my legs so I can keep busy while it works, so I sprayed it in and let the shot work its magic. The one bottle was definitely enough for my thick medium-length hair, but for someone with coarse, curly hair, I could definitely see two shots being necessary.

After rinsing the shot out of my hair and stylingВ as I normally do (brush, blow-dry, curl), I immediately noticed my hair was insanely soft and shiny. Literally-my hair was glistening in the light of my bathroom. I'm hooked! My hair tends to get greasy, so I was a bit nervous that the deep conditioner would weigh my hair down, but it actually just made it look super healthy and bouncy all day (and well into day two).В

My final verdict: The shots are definitely worth a purchase, though they're a bit pricey to do every week (as recommended on the package). I think I'll save it for times when my hair needs some serious hydration to help spread out the product a bit further, but I highly recommend this product for anyone with dry, brittle hair or who just wants to give her locks a treat.
